The compulsory lockdown imposed due to uncertainty around COVID-19 by the government has led to the loss of millions of jobs across sectors. The industries like hospitality and manufacturing coming to a complete halt (although now reviving slowly) has made layoffs and salary cuts a new norm.
Despite such strenuous conditions, the Sahara Group has stayed determined and complemented its employees with pay hikes and promotions. It said that there will be no layoffs from any of its business verticals due to the coronavirus situation.
Not only this, but the Sahara Group is also planning to recruit people who have migrated to Uttar Pradesh from metropolitan cities like Delhi and Mumbai in the wake of the pandemic, a company statement revealed.
That said, like any other industry, business or organisation, the economic activities have been impacted because of the lockdown and the group is facing an unprecedented situation.
The Sahara Group has taken a decision to not lay off employees and support them during the pandemic, while also adding that all the workers will continue to work with complete security.
Being one of the largest employers in the country, Sahara Group has about 14 lakh employees associated with its various business verticals.
Also, the group appealed to all the organisations across the nation to give equivalent importance to every employee. The company said that if we take care of them during these times, it will be a great contribution of all our business organisations and also to humanity, society, among others.
Earlier in April, Subrata Roy Sahara, Sahara Chief, assured of his complete support to all workers, customers and also urged everyone to strictly follow the government guidelines.
When the world is fighting hard against the pandemic which is growing larger by day, it is heartening to see such big Indian businesses stepping up and supporting so many families — keeping them safe and healthy.
