On Monday, a freight-tech start-up in India –FreightBro announced that it is integrating Maersk Spot within its digital platform for Freight Forwarders. This first of a kind initiative in India, it will allow customers to book and secure container space online, and in real-time using Maersk Spot APIs led FreightBro platform.
Maersk is one of the leading integrated logistic companies that works to simplify the customers’ supply chain. Further, the integration also guarantees equipment availability and cargo loading irrespective of the peak season at a fixed price on Maersk and Safmarine services.
Commenting on the development, COO, FreightBro, Kathiresan Eswaramurthy said, “Maersk Spot is indeed a game-changer and our customers can benefit not only from the rate discovery, but they can also search, compare and book instantly, with guaranteed equipment and space availability on the FreightBro platform.”
Today, the booking process, by and large, remains manual and involves a lot of back and forth communication between different stakeholders. With this recent development, FreightBro is aiming to expand its online bookings and digital rate deliveries to double while also providing airline like booking experience to the industry.
In 2019, Maersk Spot was launched by Maersk to the booking process and to curb the cycle of overbookings. The online platform does not simplify the whole booking process for the costumers while guaranteeing cargo loading.
Founded in 2016 by Raghavendra Viswanathan, Mohammaed Zakkiria A and V Anand Babu, FreightBro uses data analytics to offer seamless user experience to the forwarders while Maersk operates in over 130 countries and employees over 70,000 people.
Several experts believe that the integration between two companies can prove to be a quantum leap in enhancing the overall booking experience in shipping and simplifying supply chains.
